Acoustic Guitar
Guitar Lessons are held in Blanchardstown, Castleknock area of Dublin 15. Acoustic Guitar lessons are individually tailored to each students' standard and taste.However all students will begin with Chords,Scales and Rhythm Exercises providing a good solid technique. The ability to interpret Chord Diagrams, Chord Charts , Rhythm Notation and Guitar Tablature will allow the Student to explore the Instrument and their chosen repertoire to the highest level. Fingerstyle, Strumming Patterns and Single Note Melodies are all important elements of Acoustic Guitar Technique.All students are encouraged to seek out other learning resources themselves and are given advice on various didactic material from Music, Books and Websites.While not compulsory, students are also encouraged to take Exams , to help keep focus and drive, throughout the year.Common to all styles of Guitar Playing is the development of solid technique, musicianship and aural skills at all levels.
Electric Guitar
Improvisation is a large element of Electric Guitar Playing in particular and students are introduced to this concept at a very early stage and encouraged to explore this further, as their playing develops through the study of various Chords,Scales and Arpeggios. Again focusing on personal tastes and preferred styles, the development of Rhythm and Lead Playing work hand in hand and the study of specific Guitar Solos form the basis of expanding Improvisation/Composition.Students are encouraged to take exams to monitor their progress and advance their playing, though this is certainly not compulsory.
Classical Guitar
Students wishing to study Classical guitar are introduced to music notation, and left and right hand techniques as they relate to the Nylon string guitar. In common with Acoustic/Electric guitar, scales and chords are also covered in line with the Syllabus of the London College of Music as compiled by RGT. They will study Classical music from different periods, from Renaissance to Modren. The development of aural skills and general musicianship form a large part of this course.
Accreditation
Preparation for Junior cert and Leaving Cert practical examinations.(Grinds also available at Leaving Cert Level)
Examinations are offered through the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) and London College of Music (LCM) as follows :
- Electric Guitar Grade and Diploma Exams
- Rock Guitar Grade Exams and Performance Awards
- Acoustic Guitar Grade and Diploma Exams.
- Classical Guitar Grade and Diploma Exams.
